Victor Cruz arrived in his home stadium hoping to earn the right to appoint his blocks. Native Paterson undrafted free agent giants, as well as the fact that he could catch three touchdowns in the opening of a new football stadium Meadowlands was beyond imagination.

"Growing up, watching the giants, seeing blue all my life, I feel like I'm dreaming right now," Cruz said he was Giants with 6 catches for 145 yards and three estimates of 31-16 Jets win.

Cruz spent training camp trying to convince the coaches to keep him on the roster. But the most convincing case was on Monday night football, when he reeled in, scroll to a decent 64-yard touchdown catch with one hand, and went on the next drive with a 34-yard touchdown before sealing the game with a 5 yard score
.

Cruz admitted that he was nervous before the game. His mother, sister and coach high school all attended his professional debut. Those jitters turned into excitement on the first bill, when he extended his left hand to pull in the transition from backup defender Jim Sorgi. He made a similar catch once in college, but at no other time in his career. Cruz said that he was "shocked" when he made the game, which introduced the son of Fire Paterson a national audience.
